Eisen iron

Iron belongs to the group of trace elements. It is involved in the transport of oxygen in the body. Iron is partly stored in the body, but the larger part is in the blood and is bound there to the red blood pigment (haemoglobin). There it binds the vital oxygen to transport it to the organs. Iron is absorbed through food. An iron deficiency or an iron surplus can be accompanied by diseases.

Iron also plays an important role in the desire to have children. Together with the values for ferritin and transferrin saturation, triggers of a possible anaemia can be distinguished.

However, the iron value alone does not give an exact indication of a disease, but is only meaningful in combination with other blood values.
