The Hepatitis B antigen test looks if you have a recent or long-term (chronic) infection of the hepatitis B virus (HBV). Hepatitis B is a liver infection that can spread through blood and sex. This infection is associated with reduced fertility in both men and women. In most cases, hepatitis B clears up on its own within 6 months. If the infection is chronic, treatment can help reduce the likelihood of liver disease and prevent passing it on to others.
