This test checks if you have antibodies to the hepatitis C virus. Hepatitis C is a liver infection that can spread through blood and sex. Antibodies are released after an infection. A positive result means you were exposed to the virus, but it doesn’t show if you still have the infection. Some research shows that Hepatitis C is associated with a higher risk of miscarriage, infertility, and pregnancy complications. But it can be treated with antiviral medications to clear the infection.
