Sandra’s Story

“I finally know what’s wrong with me. Without LEVY, I would still be desperately waiting for a miracle to happen. Now I know what I can do to improve my fertility.”

My partner had just gotten a promotion and we were newlyweds. Of course, this was the perfect time to get pregnant. We thought to ourselves: now we are ready to start our family. But what we didn’t know at the time was that getting pregnant doesn’t always just happen and isn’t as easy as you might imagine.

I stopped taking the pill. A few months passed, no pregnancy. I didn’t worry though, I thought that was normal – the body has to adjust first to being off the hormones. So I didn’t think anything more about it. During that time, one of my closest friends got pregnant. I was really happy for her and wanted the same for me. A few more months passed and more people around me got pregnant. First it was a colleague, then an old acquaintance. At this point, I started questioning and wondering more and more: Why aren’t we pregnant yet? What are we doing wrong? What’s wrong with us?

After 15 months I went to my gynecologist to talk about my fertility. He told me that everything was fine and that I should give it some time. He did an ultrasound which didn’t show anything unusual. He recommended that my husband get a semen analysis to look at the health of his sperm. But again, nothing unusual there.

At first, this reassured me. Everything seemed to be okay for both my husband and me. Maybe we just needed a little bit more time? But after 5 more months, I could no longer bear to hold another negative pregnancy test in my hand.

Our fertility struggle became an increasing burden on my shoulders as more time passed. My husband was suffering as well, but he didn’t let it show. I’m really grateful for his support, because this experience really tested our relationship.

I felt completely stuck. I didn’t want to talk about it anymore and also didn’t want to see more doctors.

Again and again the same questions were popping into my head: WHAT am I doing wrong? WHY is it not working? There must be something wrong with me, I thought.

Don’t even get me started on all the well-meaning advice and “encouraging words” I heard from people around me: “Everything has its time” or “It comes when it’s supposed to”. Tell me, why does it come right away for everyone else and what did I do to deserve this?

But one tip made my ears prick up. A friend of mine was also struggling to get pregnant – finally someone who could relate to what I was going through. She discovered LEVY on Instagram and showed it to me. Finally, understand why you’re struggling to conceive, they said. That convinced me. I also loved seeing that LEVY takes a holistic approach. I completed LEVY’s free Reproductive Health Assessment questionnaire and realized that it asked me things that my gynecologist hadn’t. When I had my first consultation with the LEVY Care Team, I knew that someone was really interested in me and my fertility and truly wanted to help me fulfill my dream of becoming a mother.

I felt so grateful and decided to take the leap with the LEVY program.

After testing my fertility with the LEVY Fertility Code, I found out that I, like so many other women, have PCOS. I also learned that my thyroid hormone levels aren’t ideal for pregnancy. My doctor Theresa, who I found to be really nice and empathetic, explained to me that in most cases of infertility, PCOS is a big factor. Thankfully, there are several natural therapies to improve my fertility. We discussed the therapy options together and defined the next steps that fit best to my body and lifestyle. I have now changed my diet, started taking some medications, and finally, feel like I’ve regained control over my fertility journey. Now I’m excited to see what the next few months will bring, and I’m so glad to have hope again!
