About 10 months ago, my boyfriend and I decided we wanted to start trying for a baby. We always knew we wanted a family, and the timing felt right because he had recently been promoted at work and my best friend had just gotten pregnant. I stopped taking the pill, and my periods got quite heavy and irregular. I didn’t think much of it because I knew that the pill was making my periods lighter and it would take a while for my cycle to normalize. But the months kept going by, and I wasn’t getting pregnant. Meanwhile, more and more people around me were. First, it was my neighbor, then a colleague, then another friend. I started to feel bad about myself and wondered if there was something wrong. I visited my OB-GYN, but she assured me everything looked okay, and I just had to be patient. But something in my gut felt off, and I wanted a more in-depth checkup. I found LEVY Health through an ad on Instagram and immediately jumped on it. I filled out the questionnaire and got a blood test. Within 3 weeks, I knew what was going on. Turns out, my thyroid is underactive and I also had high levels of the hormone prolactin, which were interfering with ovulation. I found out that these are pretty common among women struggling to conceive, and I was so relieved to have an answer. I started taking medication to stabilize my hormones and my boyfriend and I are trying again. I’m excited to see what the next few months will bring!
